Today's Viewpoint: Positive change

Joe Sciortino Joe Sciortino

Amanda LaBrot shared a story this week about a group of Hattiesburg High School students who have started a service project to help children of single-parent families. If you have not seen the story, check it out on our website at wdam.com.

It is great to see young people in our community taking on leadership roles and bringing solutions when they see a problem. We can all look at this story as an example of the positive effect you can bring when you have a passion for change and a desire for helping others.

Over the next month, I would like to share more stories of who is working in our community.

Our responsibility to you here at WDAM is to cover the news, and often that requires sharing what has gone wrong, a crime, or something that is not working as we were promised. However, we also look for those things that are working.

We can all look at this story as an example of the positive effect you can bring when you have a passion for change and a desire for helping others.

So if you know of a program or initiative that is working toward positive change where you live, please share it by sending me an email. I look forward to sharing what is working in Pine Belt.

This is today's viewpoint.
