The City of Hattiesburg is joining the rest of the nation in supporting home town entrepreneurs this holiday season.
Tuesday morning, Mayor Johnny Dupree proclaimed Saturday, Nov. 28 as Small Business Saturday.
It is being done to focus attention on local entrepreneurs and their impact on the economy.
Dupree presented his proclamation to Shundrix Hinton, owner of Elegant Creations Boutique on South 28th Avenue.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are 27.9 million small businesses in the nation.
They generate 46 percent of the private gross domestic product and they employ 55 percent of the working population.
