The Jones County Sheriff’s Department received a report in October from the Department of Human Services regarding a Jones County mother and her baby.
The report stated Katie Trippe, 31 of Laurel, and her newborn daughter, tested positive for benzodiazepine, amphetamine, methamphetamines and buprenorphine.
After an investigation that included the verification of the medical records, a warrant was issued for Trippe for felonious battery and child abuse, according to a statement released by JCSD.
Trippe was taken into custody and charged.
Trippe admitted to taking meth three days before her daughter’s birth, according to JCSD.
Her initial appearance is Friday at 10 a.m.
