A Columbia Pastor is behind bars and facing a sexual battery charge in connection to a family vacation out of state.
Isaac L. Brown Jr., 59, was arrested Monday by members of the Columbia Police Department and charged with one count of sexual battery by an authority figure, on an arrest warrant out of Gatlinburg Tennessee.
According to investigators, the alleged incident occurred while on a family vacation in Gatlinburg, but the victim was not a family member to Brown.
Brown is the Pastor at Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1223 Martin Luther King Drive in Columbia.
He is being held at the Marion-Walthall Regional Correctional Facility until he is extradited to Gatlinburg for his charge.
“The incident happened sometime in late July, to early August, and it was referred to our department by the Department of Human Services,” said Columbia Police Department Investigator, Rita Pickering.
According to Pickering, the investigation is ongoing and they are working closely with the Gatlinburg Police Department as well.
Brown is a previous convicted felon, who has convictions in 1977 for burglary, and another in 1983 for receiving stolen property.
