This is a news release from the Jones County Sheriff Department.
On Wednesday, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a home on G. Morgan Road for a possible domestic assault.
The victim reported her husband, Jason Harrison, 38 of Laurel, had been arguing earlier in the evening.
He left the home and when he returned the argument picked up again and began to escalate.
The victim claimed Harrison had grabbed her throat and placed a knife up to her, just below her chin, causing marks from his hands and lacerations from the knife.
The victim received medical attention on the scene.
Harrison was located at a home just down from his residence and was taken into custody.
He is charged with domestic violence aggravated assault.
Harrison’s initial appearance will be Thursday at 3 p.m.
His bond was set at $10,000 and will be revoked because he is out on a previous felony charge.
He will stay in the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
