USM athletic department encourages community to attend #SelloutSaturday game

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This Saturday is the last scheduled home game of the season for Southern Miss and the university wants it to be a sold-out game.

USM has strategically put out more than 60 signs in the Hattiesburg and the surrounding area to encourage everyone to come to the game this weekend.

The athletic department has several promotions in place to make it easy for anyone to attend the game.

"This is going to be a huge game,” Jones said. “It's going to be the biggest home game of the year. We are 7 – 3,” said Brent Jones, USM senior associate athletic director. “Our team has really prepared long and hard for this game and this season and it's really shown in our fans. We're asking all of our fans to really step up and show up for this game. It's the last time they're going to see them here on this field."

After the game, the 12th annual Eaglepalooza concert will be held downtown starting around 8 p.m. with the pop band Echosmith.

"Whether you're a Golden Eagle, whether if you're an Alabama, an LSU, or an Ole Miss, or Mississippi State fan, your team locally in Hattiesburg is Southern Miss,” Jones said. “So, we don't check diplomas at the gates we want every single person to come up here.”
