MDOT scheduled to begin a roadway repair project on Highway 589

LAMAR COUNTY, MS -

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) will soon begin a roadway repair project along Highway 589 in Lamar County, just outside of Covington County.
 
Beginning Tuesday, November 17, MDOT maintenance crews will be removing and replacing a damaged culvert on Highway 589, a half mile south of the Covington County line in Lamar County, weather permitting.
 
The roadway will be closed beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 17th.  Alternating lane closures will continue on Wednesday, November 18th to repave the area. 
 
Northbound traffic will detour to Highway 42 and proceed east to U.S. Highway 49 then north.  Southbound traffic will detour to U.S. Highway 49 in Seminary then proceed south to Highway 42 then west to Highway 589.

    The Mississippi Attorney General has joined a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission's rollback of net neutrality. Attorney General Jim Hood's office announced the filing of a petition to formally begin the lawsuit in a Friday press release.  Hood will join 22 other attorney generals in filing the petition for review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C.
