Name released in Hub City death investigation

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police are conducting a death investigation after a man was found dead in a vehicle off the Highway 42 bypass in the Hub City.

Jason Jacks, 36 of Petal was discovered by police in the drivers seat of the vehicle that was partially submerged in mud and water on Saturday afternoon.

A bystander at the scene said the vehicle was still running when they found it, and then called police.

Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem said the body will be sent to the State Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Hattiesburg Police, Petal Police, AAA Ambulance, Hattiesburg Fire Department as well as the Forrest County Coroner’s office responded to the scene.
