Towanda Metadyne establishes manufacturing operations in Gulfport

JACKSON, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Mississippi Governor's Office.

Gov. Phil Bryant and officials from Towanda Metadyne Inc., manufacturer of precision high-tech materials and components, announce the acquisition of the former Hydro Carbide facility in Gulfport, Miss. The project represents a substantial corporate investment and will create 20 jobs. The new division, Metadyne Gulfport LLC, is expected to begin operations by mid-November.

“I appreciate the team at Towanda Metadyne for choosing to expand their operations to Gulfport, bringing new life to an existing facility and creating new jobs for the area’s workforce,” Gov. Bryant said. “Mississippi competes on a global scale, including in advanced manufacturing, and I thank the company chose to bring these jobs to Harrison County. I wish the Metadyne team many years of success in Gulfport.”

“This acquisition will complement our growth strategy by expanding our production capability and capacity, product offering, and distribution footprint," said Metadyne President Dr. Raman Daga.

Mississippi Development Authority and Harrison County provided assistance in support of the project to repave the parking lot, fence in the property and construct an employee pavilion.

“We salute the leadership of the Harrison County Development Commission and the Harrison County Board of Supervisors who, along with MDA, helped bring this great company to Gulfport,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough. “The productivity of the region’s workforce will provide the company with the competitive edge its needs for many years of success in our state.”
