1 injured, 1 taken into custody in four-vehicle accident

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Monday evening wreck sent one person to the hospital and ended with another in custody.

Crews responded to Hwy 49 at the PRCC intersection in Hattiesburg. The wreck happened around 8:15 p.m.

Two of the vehicles were burned in the accident and the Hattiesburg Fire Department extinguished the fire quickly. The other two cars had minor damage. 

One person was transported to a local hospital by Triple A ambulance.

Members of the Hattiesburg Police Department took one person into custody.

The cause of the wreck is under the investigation at the time.

It is also unclear at this time what the charges will be for the other driver.

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.
