Lamar County Sheriff's Department warn of phone scam

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Lamar County Sheriff's Department is warning of a phone scam targeting residents in the area. 

According to a Facebook post on the department's page, residents are receiving phone calls from people claiming they are with the IRS.

The caller claims that the resident owes money and will be issued an arrest warrant. 

Lamar County Sheriff's say this is not true, and to not give out any personal information. 

Report all scams to the attorney general's office here.
