Pine Belt Halloween events take place, despite threat of rain

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Some outdoor Halloween events took place as scheduled in the Pine Belt Saturday, despite the threat of rain.

In Petal, families enjoyed a children's village, pony rides, costume contests and a car show at the 5th annual Petal Fall Festival.

The event, at Hinton Park, also had dozens of vendors, selling arts, crafts, jewelry and clothing.

Live entertainment that was scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. was moved to the Performing Arts Center at Petal High School, because of the threat of bad weather.

In Hattiesburg, many families that planned to attend the football game between the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the University of Texas-El Paso Miners also stopped by Pride Field to check out Seymour's Spectacular Halloween Carnival.

That event featured free food and candy, a costume contest, pumpkin decorating and other activities.
