High-speed chase on Highway 49 ends in arrest

COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A high-speed chase on Highway 49 left one suspect in custody.

Sabrina Hall, 38, was arrested by the Hattiesburg Police Department Thursday afternoon after she failed to stop for a traffic violation.  

According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, police attempted to stop her car for a traffic violation around Helveston Road and Hwy 49.

Police said the vehicle failed to stop at first. When the car did stop, the officer approached the vehicle and then Hall backed her car into the police motorcycle and fled the scene at Hwy 49 and Mamie Street, according to HPD.

Other officers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, but driver kept going and left city limits.

HPD discontinued the search until MHP spotted the Hall’s vehicle and spike strips to stop the car.  The suspect's car spun off into a ditch.

According to authorities, the suspect ran from police in the Hattiesburg city limits up Highway 49 to Sanford in Covington County before wrecking her vehicle.

She was taken into custody for questioning.

Hall faces a felony eluding and leaving the scene of an accident. No one was injured in the incident.
