HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Some Petal Elementary School students got a sneak peek at college life by taking an annual field trip to The University of Southern Mississippi Wednesday.
Dozens of third graders toured residence halls, dining areas, athletic facilities and the library.
Teachers said its never too early for students to start thinking about going to college.
"We got to see all the cool stuff with the science experiments like with the dry ice and other stuff," said Aiden Young, one of the students.
"I like all the amazing stuff all around (the university)," said Paige Rehm, another student.
"It's great to have Southern Miss so close to our campus. so that we can visit them and let (the students) get a true picture of college life," said Jennifer Carr, assistant principal at Petal Elementary School.
More than 300 third grade students visited USM.
