Pine Belt counties under Flash Flood Watch

WDAM - The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the following counties in the Pine Belt area until Monday afternoon.

  • Covington
  • Forrest
  • George
  • Greene
  • Jeff Davis
  • Jones
  • Lamar
  • Marion
  • Pearl River
  • Perry
  • Simpson
  • Smith
  • Stone
  • Walthall
  • Wayne

Widespread rainfall amounts from three to eight inches have occurred since Sunday over the area. Moderate to occasionally heavy rain will continue over the watch area Monday as the low pressure system slowly moves east and closer to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Additional heavy rain will increase the potential for flash flooding across the watch area.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor WDAM First Alert Weather forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
