HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Fallen Hattiesburg Police Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate were honored Thursday night during an after-hours function in the Hub City.

Families of the two officers were presented with trees to be planted in their honor during a special presentation at Southern Bone & Joint.

“It’s just another push of how the community feels about the Hattiesburg Police Department, the job we do and the struggles that we go through,” Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler said. “They are able to come and stand behind us which means a lot to our department, a lot to the men and women that work there, so it’s a very positive thing. It’s a helping hand to us is what it is.”

Members of the department were also presented with a tree to be planted at the new police facility when it is built to honor the two fallen heroes.

The business after-hours event is hosted by a member of the Area Development Partnership each month, and it is an opportunity for the members to network with one another.
