MISSISSIPPI (WDAM) - Non-profit organizations and kind-hearted citizens across the state are getting ready to celebrate the spirit of giving this weekend.
Saturday is the first Mississippi Day of Giving.
It is a time when folks are being encouraged to donate to a favorite charity, volunteer for a local organization or start a fundraiser of their own.
The 24-hour event, which was established by a proclamation by Gov. Phil Bryant, begins just after midnight on Oct. 24.
Nearly 700 non-profit organizations in all 82 counties in the state will participate.
