LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - All Hardee's locations in Laurel participated in a fundraiser Wednesday for Laurel's head football coach Todd Breland and his family.
The Breland family lost their home earlier this month to fire and the restaurant chain saw a way to participate in allowing the community to help one of its own.
During the fundraiser, Hardee's pledged 10 percent of its earnings to go toward helping the Breland family rebuild and recover.
Myrtle Alexander, district manager for Hardee's of Laurel, said it is a way of giving back to someone who has helped so many kids.
"We'll be giving ten percent of those earnings," Alexander said. "Not 1 percent, 5 percent, but ten percent of those earnings to the coach. At Hardee's, we believe in supporting our community and this is one way of giving back to the community by showing our support for Todd Breland, who has helped so many kids."
Rebecca Breland is a teacher at South Jones Elementary School in Ellisville and they have two children.
