Forrest County to host Clean Up Day for non-hazardous materials

FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) -

Forrest County residents will have a chance to get rid of that old refrigerator or TV set they might have sitting in their garage free-of-charge this weekend.

The county is hosting a Clean Up Day for non-hazardous waste materials Saturday at eight locations across the county.

Hours for collection will be 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

Items that are being accepted include used tires, electronic waste (computers, television monitors), yard waste, scrap metal and old appliances.

Items not being accepted include treated wood, floor tile, insulation, fiberglass or asphalt roofing shingles, household or industrial chemicals, motor oil, solvents, paint and cleaning solutions.

The event is being sponsored by a grant from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
