ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

JCJC students were awarded scholarships in the 'Big Check' presentation funded by Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association's new "Round Up For Education" program Monday.

There were 46 JCJC students who received scholarships. In total, 209 Community/Junior College students received $975 each in scholarships.

Scholarships are available to members, their spouses or dependent children who are enrolling for their first semester at a Mississippi community/junior college this fall and are participating in the “Round Up for Education” program within PRVEPA’s 12-county service area, which serves more than 48,000 meters, according to a JCJC press release.

Since the “Round Up for Education” PRVEPA Scholarship began three years ago, more than $617,000 has been collected and deposited in an account overseen by the Greater Pine Belt Community Foundation.
