Collins flea market, concert raises money to help veterans

COLLINS, MS (WDAM) - Residents of the Covington County area made their way to the Collins Civic Center Saturday to help veterans across the state.

They bought arts and crafts, plate lunches and listened to live music during a Flea Market and Fundraising event, which benefited Veterans Outreach of Mississippi.

That organization assists veterans who live at the State Veterans Home in Collins.

"We raise funds to help our elderly veterans in the state," said James Sanford, chairman and founder of Veterans Outreach of Mississippi. "Most of them that reside in the State Veterans Home is who we do it for. We supplement anything that they need that state and federal government doesn't furnish."

The event wrapped up with a concert from country singer Jeff Bates.
