HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Petro Nissan held a ribbon cutting today as a re-dedication for 25 years in the car business.

Nearly 100 people were in attendance at the dealership location in West Hattiesburg.

The dealership began business 25 years ago on Main Street near downtown Hattiesburg.
Eddie Petro founded the business in 1990, and according to his son Tony Petro,  the executive manager, his dad grew up in the car business in the late 60s and the early 70s.

"The Ryan family had just moved Ryan Chevrolet over to West Pine Street and back in those days, they were the only people out there (and) that was an incredibly bold move at the time," Tony Petro said.

Tony Petro also said his dad always had a dream and a vision of having his own dealership and moving it to the next car location or the next car mall.

"And that's what we did in 1996," he said. "It was tough going for a lot of years and we were out here by ourselves, but if you look around now, there are several new car dealerships down the street from us. We've  got banks, we got retail stores, malls. We're right here in the middle of the action. That was the vision, and here we are 25 years later. What a dream to have. What a dream to be a part of."
