HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

If one plans to use the Longleaf Trace in Hattiesburg Saturday, Trace officials are making some changes.

Trace officials want golf cart owners to know there are rules they have to follow on game day.

There will be new signs posted along the Longleaf trace from the Jackson Road Station all the way to the Gateway Station at USM.

The main rule concerns the safety of the pedestrians or cyclists on the Trace.

"Pull over and stop if you're meeting a biker and pullover and slowdown if you're meeting a walker or a runner,” said Herlon Pierce, Longleaf Trace executive director. “We are also going to have law-enforcement officers out here between Jackson Road and the gateway."

He also said that those officers may be there to help assist them in obeying the rules.
