Verbal threat puts West Marion High School on temporary lock down

MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - There was a brief lock down at West Marion High School Thursday morning.

According to Craig Robbins, Marion County School District Superintendent, there was an incident with a student who made a verbal threat.

Robbins said the lock down was school procedure, and has been lifted.

There was no weapon involved, and all students, faculty, and staff are accounted for and safe.

The student was immediately removed from other students and was transported to the Marion County Sheriff's Department by law enforcement, according to Robbins.

"You hate to have any kind of incident, but I am glad this one was minor, and it proved that our procedures in place worked," Robbins said.
