Early morning fire destroys home of Laurel football coach

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - An early morning fire destroyed the home of Laurel High School football coach Todd Breland. The family of four escaped any injury from the blaze.

The brother of Todd Breland, Stewart Breland, whom is a volunteer fireman for the Sharon community, said that he received a call around 4:30 a.m.

According to Stewart Breland, the home was fully engulfed in flames by the time he arrived. He said a smoke detector is what woke his brother up and allowed him to get his family out safely.

Departments responding to the fire were the Sharon, Shady Grove and Sandersville Fire Departments.

For those who wish to donate to the Breland family, the Laurel School District has set up an account at Trustmark Bank in Laurel.
