Laurel Police Department arrests 4 in early morning drug raid

The warrants are the result of a year-long investigation that netted four arrests, counterfeit property, money and drugs. The warrants are the result of a year-long investigation that netted four arrests, counterfeit property, money and drugs.
LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Officers of the Laurel Police Department Narcotics, patrol and CID executed a search warrant early Thursday morning at two homes on Hill Drive and 12th Avenue in Laurel.

Officers also executed a search warrant at One Stop, First Avenue Curb and Al's Quick Stop.

 The warrants are the result of a year-long investigation that netted four arrests, counterfeit property, money and drugs.

Those arrested in the operation include the following: 

  • Saleh Hassan Alsoufi, 35, charged with possession of cathinone, while in possession of a firearm and possessions of counterfeit goods.
  • Nasir Hassan, 29, charged with possession of cathinone and possession of counterfeit goods.
  • Abdul Saeed, 38, charged with possession of cathinone.
  • Mohammed Alhinini was charged with a misdemeanor.

Cathinone is an active ingredient of a drug called Khat.

Khat’s other active ingredient is cathine and both ingredients are listed as controlled substances in the U.S.

Officer Layne Bounds is the lead investigator in the case.
