Jury returns verdict in Pine Belt murder trial

FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) - The jury returned a verdict in the case against Dwayne Bryant Thursday afternoon.

The court found Bryant guilty of 2nd degree murder after deliberating for less than three hours.

He was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Bryant was on trial for the murder of Adrian Walker, who was shot during a dispute at the Bonhomie apartments in August 2013.

Bryant's initial charge was aggravated assault, but that charge was upgraded to murder when Walker died from his injuries a month later.

Walker died from injures sustained from multiple gun shot wounds.
