Laurel Police Department to conduct Entry Level Police Officer Examination

LAUREL, MS - The Laurel Police Department will conduct an Entry Level Police Officer Examination on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Police Training Facility on Hillcrest Drive.

Interested individuals can sign up at the city of Laurel Human Resources located on the third floor of Laurel City Hall.

Officers with prior certification are not required to take the test in order to be considered for employment.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. All required documents and applications must be returned to the Laurel Human Resources office at that time.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • style="text-align:justify;">At least 21 years of age
  • style="text-align:justify;">Valid MS driver’s license
  • style="text-align:justify;">High School diploma or GED
  • style="text-align:justify;">U. S. Citizen and registered voter in the county where you reside
  • style="text-align:justify;">Able to pass a background check
  • style="text-align:justify;">Able to pass Entry-Level Police Officer Civil Service Examination
  • style="text-align:justify;">Able to attend and successfully complete MS Law Enforcement Officer Training Academy

Beginning Salary:  $16.04 per hour/$35,865.44 annually
