HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The second annual "Pink in the Park" started Monday and is a place of fellowship for breast cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to breast cancer.
Now in its second year, "Pink in the Park" a place where breast cancer survivors can gather for fellowship and music as well as health screenings such as getting one's blood pressure checked.
A two time breast cancer survivor Regertha Jenkins came up with the idea because she wanted to give back to the community and for others who might be going through the same battle that she went through.
"It's more than just survivors it's for people that have lost their battle with breast cancer also and the ones that are currently fighting breast cancer. So we wanted to honor all of those," Jenkins said.
The event will be going on until 7 p.m. Monday at Town Square Park near downtown Hattiesburg.
Local one-man-band Charles performed for the group.
