ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

Despite not having Head Coach Buddy Stephens on the sidelines the East Mississippi Lions defeated the Jones County Bobcats in the Thursday night cat fight 49-7.

East Mississippi held possession first and rarely let it go. The Lions covered 70 yards in the first six plays. Wyatt Roberts threw a 4-yard pass to Dario Robinson in the end zone with 13:09 left in the first quarter.

Robinson, a threat on both sides of the ball, intercepts quarterback Thad Miller’s pass. The Lions would take over again on the EMCC 34 yard line and Isaiah Wright brings it in for a touchdown. Wright scored the next touchdown as well.

At the end of the first quarter EMCC lead 21-0, and at the end of the half the Lions doubled the score making it 42-0.

With 6:41 left in the game the Bobcats finally found a way to put points on the board. Quarterback Kelvin Bourrage found Nate Cohen for a 21-yard touchdown reception.

The Bobcats are 2- 4 and will host East Central at 2 p.m. on Oct. 10th for the Homecoming game.
