The following is a news release from The University of Southern Mississippi

The University of Southern Mississippi has earned a No. 15 ranking by Sports Management Degree Guide in its listing of the “50 Most Affordable Urban Schools for Sports Management in 2015.”

For the rankings, Sports Management Degree Guide used the NCES College Navigator database to examine 158 institutions in the U.S. and Puerto Rico offering four-year bachelor’s degrees in Sport and/or Fitness Administration/Management and located in an urban or city setting. From these, SMDG selected the least expensive based on net price. Southern Miss is the only Mississippi college or university featured in the rankings.

The Southern Miss College of Business offers an undergraduate sports management degree program within the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Sport Management. Students who complete the requirements for the program earn a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management.

Aside from required courses and electives, students must complete a practicum and internship experience. Study abroad options are available with the British Studies Program. The BS degree is accredited by the Commission of Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).

On its website, SMDG stresses a commitment to offering comprehensive rankings on the best online and on-campus sports management degree programs that have an outstanding reputation for producing sports marketers, sport scouts, athletic directors, sports agents, coaches, and other sports managers.
