One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lamar County Tuesday morning.
Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said units responded to the wreck near Cole Road on Old Highway 24 just before 10 a.m.
“The pickup truck hit a tree and trapped the driver inside, the vehicle caught fire and the male driver was burned badly, beyond recognition,” Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said. “We are going to send the body for an autopsy to be able to positively identify the victim.”
Rigel said the name is not being released until the results are back and they are a hundred percent sure on the positive identification of the victim.
Rigel said the truck was traveling west bound on Old Hwy 24 when it left the road, striking the tree just past the Cole Road intersection.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation at this time.
