Funeral arrangements made for popular Hattiesburg restaurant owner

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Funeral arrangements have been made for Bonnie Jackson, the owner of Leatha's Bar-B-Que Inn, who died Tuesday of a heart attack.

Viewing will be this Sunday, from 2-7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Columbia.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m., at Fresh Annointing Church, 1713 N. Main St. in Columbia.

Jackson was the daughter of the popular restaurant's founder, Leatha Jackson, who died in 2013.

Family members say Bonnie's sister, Carolyn Stepny, will take over the restaurant.

"Leatha's is going to be around for years and years and years to come," said Ashlei Ellzey, an employee at Leatha's. "When you come in, it's just going to be the same, you're just not going to have Miss Bonnie here. Her spirit is going to be here, we have pictures and stuff with her, you just have to go on with what you know of her, and the memories that she had with you."

Bonnie Jackson was 57-years-old.
