Forrest General Home Care and Hospice celebrates 30 years of service

This is a news release from Forrest General Hospital

Forrest General Home Care and Hospice is celebrating 30 years of providing valuable home care services to the Pine Belt and beyond. During July and August, staff in each branch office gathered to celebrate more than 3 decades of service and to recognize staff members that have given 30 years of service to Home Care and Hospice.

“Forrest General purchased this Home Care agency in July of 1985, and we are proud to have served the Pine Belt for 30 years,” said Director of Forrest General’s Home Care and Hospice, Melita Miller. “We also have several staff members that have been here since the very beginning, and these celebrations are designed to recognize both the agency’s accomplishment and the dedication of those employees.”

Services include skilled nursing, specialty nursing, social services, certified nurse aides, therapy and various specialty programs for all ages, from newborns to senior adults. Forrest General Home Care serves a 19-county area: Covington, Forrest, George, Greene, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Simpson, Smith, Stone, Walthall, and Wayne. In addition to the main Home Care office in Hattiesburg, there are also branch offices in Lumberton, Prentiss, Tylertown, Columbia, Picayune, Laurel and Richton.

Over the past decade, Forrest General Home Care and Hospice has enjoyed several awards and honors for its work including reaching Top 500 Home Care Elite Status as well as maintaining Home Care Elite Status from 2006-2013 for clinical outcomes and best practices. Most recently, one of their long-time hospice nurses, Maxine Odum, received the Heart of Hospice award from the Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization recognizing her 24 years of providing excellent hospice care. Join us in congratulating Forrest General Home Care and Hospice as they look forward to another 30 years of caring for the Pine Belt.
