HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Area Development Partnership in Hattiesburg held a ribbon cutting at the Kid's Hub Child Advocacy Center Wednesday.

About 30 people attended the event to open the new center that will provide support for child abuse victims in the Pine Belt area.

The center works with four counties in the area to provide forensic interviews and victim advocacy services to kids that have been alleged victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse or children who of been witnesses to a violent crimes. Those counties include Lamar, Forrest, Pearl River and Marion.

"Having a center like this in Hattiesburg significantly reduces the travel time for families as well as for our law-enforcement and DHS personnel so that we can be more effective in our case working," said Didi Ellis, executive director of the Kid's Hub.
