A Forrest County man was charged with aggravated assault after police said he assaulted another man with a baseball bat.
Jeremy Smith posted a $5,000 bond Monday afternoon at the Forrest County Jail and was released, after being charged with one count of aggravated assault.
Forrest County Sheriff’s Department investigator Nick Calico said the incident happened in the 200 block of Archie Smith Road in the county on Friday.
“Smith apparently struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat, and the victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries, which were not believed to be life threatening,” Calico said.
Calico said the incident stemmed from an argument and that the two men knew each other.
