This is a news release from Mississippi Power.

Mississippi Power announced today options for customers to select the form – a check or bill credit – that they would like to receive their refund.

“Mississippi Power’s commitment is to provide customers with the superior service they have come to expect,” Vice President of Customer Services Organization Nicole Faulk said. “The company also wants to make sure customers fully understand the refund process and seamlessly make a choice that best suits their situation.”

The Mississippi Public Service Commission issued its final refund plan order on Friday, Aug. 7 and is allowing up to 120 days to complete the refund process. Mississippi Power is using the time to inform customers of the refund process while the company works to accurately calculate, verify and issue credits or checks according to the Commission’s requirement.

From Oct. 12-30, customers will be able to decide whether they want a refund credit or a check. Customers who wish to receive the bill credit do not have to take any action and the credit will be placed on their account Nov. 9.

The easiest way for customers to select a refund check is to go online to mississippipower.com. Customers will need their account number and the last 4 digits of their Social Security Number to confirm their identity and make their selection.

Customers can also visit a customer service representative at a local Mississippi Power office or call Mississippi Power Customer Service at 1-800-532-1502 to make their selection.

“We will process these requests as quickly as possible and will begin mailing checks on Nov. 9,” Faulk said.

If customers have a past due balance, their refund amount will be applied to that balance first. They can then leave the remaining balance to be applied as a credit to future bills or request it be provided as a refund check.

Former customers will automatically receive a refund check, mailed to their last known mailing address.
