A Hattiesburg man has been indicted for sexual battery in a 2013 Forrest County case.
Charles Edward Dye, 27, was served with his indictment and booked into the Forrest County Jail Tuesday morning.
According to the indictment, between May 1, 2013 and Aug. 11, 2013, Dye did willfully, purposely, unlawfully and feloniously commit sexual battery upon a child who was at the time under the age of 14.
The indictment lists that Dye was, at the time, 24 months older than the victim, by engaging in intercourse, contrary to the form of the statute in such cases made and provided, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Mississippi.
Dye was originally arrested in August 2013 and charged with one count of sexual battery. Since then, the case has been handed over to the district attorney’s office, and presented to a grand jury and returned as a true bill.
