The U.S. cities you might expect to be the most liberal actually are not, especially New York City.
Data from an MIT study shows how city governments reflect their voters' politics to produce a ranking of cities with populations over 250,000, according to an article from The Economist.
Other articles have mentioned this: "the most conservative cities are skewed toward being more liberal than one might expect," according to Vox. Which in turn, means that the most conservative cities are not as conservative and vice versa with liberal cities.
