HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Two Hattiesburg women are behind bars facing felony charges in connection to a Hub City shooting.

Hattiesburg Police Department Lt. Detective Branden McLemore said Tonesia Lewis, 25, and Tiffany Evans, 30, were arrested late Wednesday night, September 9th, in connection to a shooting that happened earlier in the day on Martin Luther King Avenue.

The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Avenue.

“During the investigation we learned that the two women were involved and we took them both into custody,” said McLemore.

The victim was shot once, and was struck in the leg. He was treated at a local hospital for his injuries, and they are not life threatening.

“The incident appears to be domestic related, and the weapon used was recovered, but the investigation is still ongoing,” said McLemore.

Lewis was charged with aggravated assault, and Evans was charged with accessory after the fact of aggravated assault in the crime.
