HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hub City residents are preparing to participate in many volunteer activities Friday to mark the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
It is part of day of service called, #WeareHattie and it is organized by groups such as Volunteer Hattiesburg, the Greater Pine Belt Community Foundation and the Southern Miss Center for Community and Civic Engagement.
Folks are being urged to join a team to pick up litter, clean up around a school or come up with their own service project.
Organizers invite participants to take photos of their work and post it to Facebook or Twitter at #WeareHattie.
So far, service projects are scheduled at Thames and Hawkins elementary schools, D.R.E.A.M. of Hattiesburg and the Oseola McCarty Youth Development Center.
