JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

UPDATE: Michael Saltsgiver was charged with two counts of sexual assault on a minor, and had his bond set at $50,000.

This is a news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department

On July 27, 2015 the Jones County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from the mother of a 6-year-old boy, stating she had just discovered her son had been molested by a family friend.

The mother told how her son revealed he had been inappropriately touched on two different occasions by  Michael David Saltsgiver, 18, of Moselle.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Investigators immediately began an in depth investigation, which included a forensic interview. During the interview the victim recounted the two separate occurrences of molestation that began in May of 2015.

After enough information was gathered, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department brought Saltsgiver in for questioning.

In a matter of moments he confessed to the inappropriate acts against the victim.  Saltsgiver was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.

Saltsgiver’s initial appearance at the Jones County Justice Court will be Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
