HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the United Way
Citizens in the local county community are the key to unlocking treasures in the Pine Belt. This theme will highlight the 2015 fund raising campaign for the United Way of the Pine Belt Region.
Regional Campaign Chair Ryan Griffin announced the total for the Pacesetter campaign, which was held during August. The 15 organizations who set the pace for the campaign raised $319,547 or 49 percent of the $649,000 campaign goal. A breakfast to start the campaign was held Thursday morning at the Sanderson Farms, Inc. office in Laurel.
The United Way of the Pine Belt Region serves 17 partner-agencies in the counties of Covington, Jasper, Jones, Smith and Wayne.
"Countless lives are changed for the better because of the services provided in our five county area by United Way's treasured partner-agencies. As a father, the success of local children's programs are important to me," Griffin said. "We recently heard from a parent who sent their child to the Children's Center for Communication and Development. This little girl had truly improved in speech and motor skills. That family has benefited from our your United Way gifts."
