WCU raises $603,000 at 5th annual scholarship banquet

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Supporters of William Carey University gathered in Hattiesburg Tuesday night to raise money for student scholarships.

A 5th annual banquet was held at Southern Oaks and Gardens.  

Keynote speaker was retired 5th Circuit Court of Appeals judge Charles Pickering. 

"This year, we have set a record for our annual scholarship dinner and we have raised $603,000 in association with this event, so that's a very big milestone for us," said Monica Marlowe, chief advancement officer for William Carey University.   

Scholarships were also presented in honor of the four previous speakers at the event. They were the Trent Lott Scholarship, the Governor Phil Bryant Scholarship, the Senator Roger Wicker Scholarship and the Chancellor Robert Khayat Scholarship.
