Mississippi has the best community college system in the nation, according to WalletHub, a personal finance website.
WalletHub compared 670 community colleges in 17 different areas, including cost of in-state tuition and fees to student-faculty ratio.
North Dakota, Wyoming and Washington were ranked second, third and fourth in the study.
"I'm really excited to hear about the study and I'm not surprised at all, because as a product of the community college system myself, I had a very good experience and I believe our students have a very good experience," said Jana Causey, vice-president of Forrest County Operations at Pearl River Community College.
"I do think it's a very accurate description of the system, because it looks at so much more than just a few things, a holistic evaluation," said Jesse Smith, president of Jones County Junior College. "(The study) looks at what it cost the student, what investments from your county and state is."
Two Mississippi schools, Itawamba Community College and Southwest Mississippi Community College, also made the top 20 list for individual community colleges. For the full report, click here.
