BOEM holds meeting in Gulfport on upcoming oil lease sale

The U.S. government is holding public meetings this week in Mississippi as well as Alabama and Louisiana as authorities are working on a supplemental environmental impact statement for an oil lease sale, which is tentatively planned for 2017.

The lease sale would cover about 46 million acres in the central Gulf of Mexico.  Wednesday's meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in Gulfport.
