HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The City of Hattiesburg and several local organizations are encouraging Hub City residents to do volunteer work to honor those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Thursday, Hattiesburg city officials, along with Southern Miss' Center for Community and Civic Engagement, Volunteer Hattiesburg and the Greater PineBelt Community Foundation, gathered to announce a new community volunteer effort which will take place on Friday, Sept. 11.
It's called "We Are Hattie."
During that day, residents are encouraged to assist local volunteer or service agencies, conduct a food drive or just help a neighbor in need.
