Sheriff: Two burglaries solved at one location

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department 

On Friday  the Jones County Sheriff's Department received a complaint that Harper's Garage, on Highway 15 North in Laurel, had been burglarized.  Investigators went to the scene and discovered the fence had been pulled down and the culprit had made entry onto the property, taking a substantial amount of equipment and goods.  An investigation into the burglary began immediately.

On Wednesday, August 19, Jones County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Blossman Gas on Bush Dairy Road in Laurel for a complaint of a stolen lawn mower.

The owner of the Harper's Garage, and employee of Beat 1 Jones County, Ed Harper, was doing road work on County Barn Road and Shady Grove – Moss Road, on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 when he spotted, in plain view, property he reported stolen on August 14th.  Harper again contacted the JCSD.

Investigators verified the property was that which was reported stolen by Harper and from Blossman Gas on Bush Dairy Road.  Through the investigative process, the suspect was determined to be James Townsend Dry, 27 of Laurel.

When questioned, Dry admitted to purchasing the lawn mower, knowing it was stolen. He also admitted to the burglary at Harper's Garage on Highway 15 North, Laurel.  The investigation continues and further arrests are anticipated.

Dry was taken into custody and charged with Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property.  Bond was set for $10,000.
