JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - What began as a report of a car accident quickly escalated into an aggravated assault out of Jones County.
The Jones County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a scene on Myrick Road near Walter's Loop Tuesday after reports of a car accident.
When deputies arrived on scene, they quickly broke up an altercation between two women.
The suspect, Wiltesha Ann Dean, was attacking another female victim with a machete after running her car off the road.
The victim was cut in the arm, and children in her vehicle witnessed the entire incident, according to Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge.
She was transported to a local hospital and was treated to her wounds. She was released the same day.
Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Dean knew the victim, and chased her into the county from Laurel.
The car chase ended in a car accident, when Dean jumped from the car and began attacking the victim with a machete, according to Hodge.
Dean is being charged with aggravated assault, a manifest of extreme indifference to life. Her bond was set at $5,500.
