HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - About 250 people attended the first ever Nurse Pinning Ceremony for graduates of the Practical Nursing Program at Antonelli College.
"This group of students has shown endurance, dedication and compassion. They're going to make excellent bedside nurses and be able to deliver nursing care to our Hattiesburg retirement community with great joy and such blessings," Director of the Practical Nursing Program Linda Shows said. "In alignment with Governor Phil Bryant's workforce initiative Antonelli had the foresight to start a new practical nursing program and we're excited today that we can celebrate with our first graduates."
The pinning ceremony is known as a rite-of-passage for the nursing students. The nursing pledge was recited by the 15 graduates while friends and family members watched, some with joyful tears.
The ceremony signifies the completion of the 16 month Practical Nursing Program.
